About Alcónes Negros
Alcónes Negros bring experience and innovation to the tradition of mariachi music. Hailing from the American southwest, each member of the band brings decades of experience to the project and a unique skillset and approach to Mexican folk music. Roberto Lucero grew up with traditional music in his family in northern New Mexico and also trained in classical piano and symphonic brass. He founded and directed Mariachi Cardenal de Stanford and now directs the Mariachi ensemble course at the University of New Mexico music department.
