Hubert Parry (1848-1918) was a British composer of the post-Romantic period, of comparable status and musical style to his contemporary, Charles Villiers Stanford. Parry had his first public success with his Piano Concerto in F sharp major, though his reputation would grow with the popularity of his choral music, including the oratorio, Job. Parry influenced many composers through his position as director of the Royal College of Music, and in his later years he was honored with knighthood.
