Oskar Schönning is associated with a filmic and romantic take on modern Scandinavian jazz. The name refers both to a band and a person. Starting out as a trio in the northern Swedish town Östersund in 2002, Anders Kronlund played the dobro, Emil Strandberg played the trumpet, and Oskar Schönning played the double bass. On the debut album in 2004, Jonas Östholm joined on piano along with Nils Berg on clarinets and Sebastian Voegler on drums.
