The Dark Flowers were formed by songwriter/producer Paul Statham ( Dido, Peter Murphy, Simple Minds and B-Movie) after reading Sam Shepards book of prose/poetry 'Motel Chronicles', about the American Mid West and the strange characters that inhabit those desert towns and old motels, whilst listening to the 1973 soundtrack album 'The Hired Hand' by Bruce Langhorne.
