The Muffin Tops are a band based in Frankfurt, Germany. Coming from different musical backgrounds with funk as a common ground, the band that mainly started off as a live act soon became a work environment for boundary-crossing songwriting and increasingly complex work in the studio. The second studio work Surrealism (2019) marks the climax of this development. The album features a wide range of different interpretations of what can be regarded as funk, from electronic and disco music to more jazz- and rock-influenced tunes.
