Fundi Konde, born on August 24, 1924, in Mwabayanyundo village, Kilifi District, Kenya, was a singer representing the Giriama tribe. His professional music career began during World War II when he performed for East African troops in South Asia. Upon returning to Kenya, Konde made some of the earliest recordings from the region, including hits such as "Mama Sowera," "Majengo Siendi Tena," "Kipenzi Waniua Ua," and "Jambo Sigara."
