Akoni is born and raised in Maui where he has spent the last 15 years performing and refining his music. Drawing from his kama’aina upbringing, Akoni has developed his unique island sound through a modern blend of Hawaiian and traditional reggae rhythms. His music pulls from his local roots, including collaborations with John Cruz, Maoli, and the great Kamaka Kukona on his all original “For Lahaina” tribute.
