Hailing from Ōtautahi Christchurch, Marley Sola’s life has been filled with music. Coming from a family of Samoan, Māori and European descent, his first memories of music were watching his uncle play saxophone in the classic New Zealand group Salmonella Dub. As a teenager Marley became a regular performer with his local church and through jamming out with his mates at weddings. Marley’s first taste of the wider music industry came when, at age 17, he featured as one quarter of Moorhouse, a group who were fan favourites in the first season of The X-Factor NZ.
