Hifi Americana was born out of the coming together of friends with eclectic taste and the realization that within that diverse array of influence exists a lot of common ground. Kalen Chase came up in the world of metal and hard rock but always loved the writing of storytellers like Tom Waits and Bruce Springsteen, while brother Nick Morris cut his teeth on the country stylings of Garth Brooks and Vince Gill.
