Mauricio Tapajós Gomes (27-12-1943 / 21-04-95) was born in Rio de Janeiro, the son of Paulo Tapajós, a musician who would greatly influence his career. Maurício spent his childhood attending Rádio Nacional, where his father was a radio broadcaster, singer, director and producer of several programs. His first recorded composition was “Carro de boi”, in partnership with the poet Cacaso. Soon he would develop with him and another poet, Herminio Bello de Carvalho, the popular opera “João-Amor e Maria”. He also signed the Musical Direction for many other plays.
