Cymin Samawatie is a singer, conductor, and composer of contemporary music. She gained international reputation with her ensemble Cyminology, whose latest three albums were released with the Munich-based record label ECM. In 2013, she co-founded the Trickster Orchestra, which she co-directs with Ketan Bhatti. Here, she blends composition, improvisation, and mimesis to unite superb soloists in a collective of trans-traditional avant-garde music that incorporates traditions and instruments from Europe, Western, Central, and East Asia as well as younger instruments such as electronics.
