Homayoun Sakhi is widely recognized as the most innovative Afghan rubab virtuoso of his generation. Born in Kabul in 1976 into a prominent musical family, he began learning the rubab at the age of ten with his father, Ustad Ghulam Sakhi, in the traditional ustâd-shâgird method. In 1992, his family fled the civil war in Afghanistan, taking refuge in Pakistan, where Homayoun’s talent quickly gained recognition.
