Born and raised New Jersey, Ryuu's passion for music is something that runs in his family. His Jamaican parents always played reggae and dancehall in their home and cars. His father used to MC, and mother currently DJs. His older sister would introduce him to a wide range of genres, expanding his pallet. As a kid, he sang in the children's choir in church, and in his school's chorus. However, for him, music was secondary to art, which was his main focus until his late teen years.
