4D was born Dylan Epperson Farley in Harlem, NYC, to journalist parents Sharon Epperson and Christopher John Farley. He was named after Bob Dylan—a quiet nod to his future in music. Raised in New Rochelle, New York, 4D grew up immersed in music from the jump. His father, a former Time music critic and senior editor at The Wall Street Journal, introduced him early to legends like Bob Marley, Prince, Lauryn Hill, and The Strokes—all of which left a lasting imprint on his image and sound.
