Jean Paul Ventura grew up on a campsite in a small town in southern France, near Marseille. He was raised by his uncle and aunt. Musically, he was shaped by his uncle’s old Wurlitzer jukebox, which mostly played classic Serge Gainsbourg records and 1970s French disco. During the summer months, he worked at the campsite and, in his free time, rode his moped with vacationing girls to the nearby Calanques to have a swim.
