Été Large was founded in 2015 by saxophonist Luise Volkmann. She named her 13-piece band "Été Large," which means "big summer" or "it was great." Inspired by some excursions into the world of classical music, Volkmann decided on a hybrid instrumentation between a typical brass band and some classical elements. What started in the subcultural space of Leipzig and Berlin became an international ensemble with the first album "Eudaimonia".
