Growing up in Småland, - the Bible Belt of Scandinavia - Melkowitz aka Jakob Melkstam started his musical life in church. Through the storytelling of traditional hymns, Melkowitz experienced a close relationship to alt-country singer/songwriters like Steve Earle and Lucinda Williams. Melkowitz developed his songwriting and artistic expression as the frontman in Swedish band Amarillo star.
