Born in Mississippi on sharecropper land, John Primer migrated to Chicago in 1963 with a dream of performing with Muddy Waters. He got his start at Maxwell Street playing for tips with Pat Rushing’s band, then getting hired at the famous Theresa’s Lounge as a lead guitarist for the great Junior Wells and Sammy Lawhorn. He was taught by all the legendary bluesmen. From there he was noticed by Willie Dixon.
