When the Cat's Away, a female vocal group from New Zealand, was formed in 1985 by Annie Crummer, Debbie Harwood, Kim Willoughby, Dianne Swann, and Margaret Urlich. The group debuted at Auckland's Wildlife in September 1986 and signed with CBS Records. Their debut album, When the Cat's Away, was released in 1987. Their breakthrough came with the cover of Blue Mink's "Melting Pot", which reached Number One in New Zealand in November 1988.
