Saxophonist Marcus Anderson was born in 1984 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Eventually graduating from North Carolina Central University, he began the life of the working musician, accompanying various artists and doing his own gigs in between. Eventually a video of one of Anderson’s fiery solo performances caught the attention of Prince, who immediately hired Anderson as a full-time touring musician for the New Power Generation between 2012 and 2016.
