b. Dorothy Sims, 12 April 1921, Jacksonville, Florida, USA, d. 22 October 1978, Santa Monica, California, USA. A popular country-style comedienne, Shay began her music career in 1945 as a blues singer with the Morton Gould Orchestra. A few years later, she changed her musical style and became known as the Park Avenue Hillbillie and regularly joined Spike Jones on his radio series.
