Rush Rush joined the musical group Universal Cartel in 2005 in order to explore his interest in Hip hop. With, Universal Cartel and subsidery Akasha Black he would go on to perform on many stages from South Beach to the Miami Carnival held on Columbus day. The group released songs such as "Hero" and "Kontroll" gaining local popularity which were hip hop crossover tunes. Soon after, he began working with legendary grammy award winning producer Robbie Shakespeare of Taxi Records after a chance encounter.
