Born Maurice Connolly Jr., Cooly MacLeod grew up in the Philadelphia area. During his formative years, he took a liking to hip hop and began to take up rapping as a hobby. Has the years went on, he started to embrace his West Indian roots and began to implement the “reggae vybz” within his music. It is through this discovery that Cooly began to channel different types of melodic harmonies and lyrics within his songs.
