Sobre Avenger
This hi-tech thrash metal quartet originated in Herne, West Germany. Formed in 1984, the band comprised Peter Wagner (vocals/bass), Thomas Gruning (guitar), Jochen Schroeder (guitar) and Jörg Michael (drums). The band’s debut album combined a speed-metal style with intricate Rush -like bridges and interludes. The songs were complex and technically proficient but were let down somewhat by the vocals, which lacked both power and range. After the release of the mini-album Depraved To Black, they became known as Rage and enjoyed critical acclaim throughout Europe.
