A Los Angeles-based hard rock/heavy metal unit with a knack for crafting booming party anthems, Roxanne emerged in the late 1980s at the tail-end of the hair metal scene. Citing influences like Queen, Thin Lizzy, and Bad Company, and led by frontman Jamie Brown, the group had some success with their Scotti Brothers-issued eponymous 1988 debut album, with singles "Cherry Bay," "Sweet Maria," and a souped-up rendering of Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music" making a strong showing on rock radio and the Billboard singles charts.
