Inspired by the likes of Talking Heads, Chic, Sly Stone, Peter Gabriel, Roy Ayers and New Order, Kowloon crafts his own unique blend of funky, bass-forward indie pop with stream-of-consciousness lyricism and a distinct croon that seems to float above the music. This nostalgia and heartbreak obsessed project takes its name, fittingly, from Hong Kong’s Kowloon Walled City - what was once the most densely populated place on earth but now exists only in memory and the Kodachromes of the past.
