Since the age of nine, SEMAJ has been involved in music. During his school years in South London, he trained as a classical musician, playing the clarinet for the Croydon Schools Symphonic Band. At 16, he made the transition to gospel music and performed in church choirs before forming his own live band. Then in 2012, he co-founded the electronic/soul duo Sallok and James. They released their EP 'Beautiful' via NexGen Music and performed at many live events across London.
