P The Prophet initially gained recognition for being one-half of the Ohio based hip hop duo GTC (Grind Time Central), alongside his longtime friend and fellow rapper Cognac Jones. They are perhaps best known for being the Ohio Hip-Hop Award Winners for Best Group, as well as their single "Grind Til I Get It" which caught the attention of former Atlantic Records A&R and now Senior VP of A&R for Interscope Records Sickamore, who brought them into his Artist Development Company, The Famous Firm.
