Born in Tehran, Iran, Gity Razaz is a composer of classical concert and electroacoustic music who currently resides in Brooklyn, New York. Her music possess both a deep, dramatic lyricism and an otherworldly fascination with mysticism, surrealist poetry, and ancient folklore. Her recent commissions include a piece for acclaimed cellist Alisa Weilerstein and her multi-year project “Fragments,” a 2021 commission from BBC Symphony Orchestra for the Last Night of the BBC Proms at London’s Royal Albert Hall, and a commission by the League of American Orchestras for San Diego Symphony and conduc...
