Mahyar was born into an artistic family and he was exposed to classical music from an early age. His parents, who are both creatively minded, played an important role in encouraging his pursuit of a musical career. Mahyar's love for films led to him combining his musical talent with moving images, writing his first film score at the age of 13. He focused his attention on classical music at university, studying composition, then specialized in film composition during his postgraduate studies in Edinburgh, Scotland.
