One of a select few Malaysian pop singers to have success outside of her native borders, Siti Nurhaliza (born January 11, 1979) began her performing career at a very young age, wowing audiences at weddings and parties at the age of five. In 1995, at the age of 16, Nurhaliza competed and won that year’s Juara Bintang competition, which led to a record deal with Suria Records.
