Spearheaded by Houston vocalist/guitarist/programmer Ken Gerhard (also of Bamboo Crisis and Flowers & Machines), Bozo Porno Circus blended industrial dance music with (as one might expect from the group's name) outlandish theatricality and fetishistic sexuality. The group originally formed in 1991, issuing a local album that gained them a following around Texas and Louisiana. 1994's Restrained Retrained netted some national distribution, but the follow-up was four years in coming.
