Illuminati (aka La Orden Secreta de Illuminati) was formed in 2002 by singer/guitarist Joao Da Silva following the dissolution of the Santiago, Chile hardcore punk band Redención 9-11. The band initially consisted of Pablo Gutiérrez on drums, Alejandro Ortúzar on bass, and Da Silva on voice and guitar. The trio took the sounds of Revolution Summer-era harDCore, 90’s post-hardcore, and the minimalism of early Wire, infused it with local influences and created a unique sound and identity within the local Santiago underground punk scene.
