In 2017, Fin guitarist Matt Szabo and Paper Compass front-man Clayton Johnson teamed up to create Different Birds. Formed out of a shared love of Coldplay, Radiohead, Death Cab for Cutie and The Marlboro Chorus, the two decided to blend their own respective musical styles to produce a soft Indie rock album. The result was the single Fool with a Gun. Shortly after a brief rise to fame on the Reddit page r/Coldplay, Different Birds fell into obscurity. The two have reportedly been working on demos for a full length album but the recordings have yet to surface.
