Conductor Seokwon Hong has been active in both Europe, where he was partially trained, and in his native South Korea. He is the chief conductor of the Gwangju Symphony Orchestra, with which he released his debut album in 2022.Hong's name has been transliterated in various ways, and sometimes with the family name, Hong, placed first. He attended Seoul National University, studying composition and conducting. His main professors there were Heonjeong Lim and Dukki Kim.
