Martin was born on 8 October 1971 in the Tjidiwe area under chief Ndolwane in Plumtree to Samuel and Fildah Sibanda in a family of four. Deriving his love of music from influences from bands such as “The Mist in Roots” and artsist Lucky Dube, he used to write Reggae songs and sing Lucky Dube’s songs which earned him the nickname “Lucky Dube” this resulted in Ndolwane Super Sounds, his band, a taste of Reggae but still retaining a traditionally Rhumba/Tshibilika sound which has given it a unique flavour.
