Originally started as a cover band for a high school talent show, Candy Cigarette quickly changed directions after writing and recording their first single Dancefloor during their first meet in 2020. Blending elements of dream pop and 80s corniness, Dancefloor found its way onto 75 playlists within the span of a year, encouraging the band to continue with this sound. The following year, Candy Cigarette released the single Personal Hell as a part of the nationwide "Gloom4U" charity compilation.
