New Zealand born with Maori heritage, Music is part of the culture. Seeing family sing and play instruments was an eye opener to musical expression but it would be seeing a DJ at age 11 on TV using turntables that would spark a life long interest. Taking massive influence from 90s hip hop, specifically heavily sampled music would create the backbone of Hooky’s music.
