Best known as the frontwoman of the dreamy Portland act Blouse, Charlie Hilton grew up in a bohemian Los Angeles family. Her father was a musician who wrote a new age Christmas album; another reflection of her hippie upbringing was the Sanskrit name, Palana, that her parents gave her at birth (Hilton changed her first name to Charlie when she was 19). She began playing guitar and writing songs as a teen, and formed Blouse with Patrick Adams and Jacob Portrait (also of Unknown Mortal Orchestra) in 2010.
