Mr. Bow is an award-winning Mozambican artist and producer who emerged in the 2010s with an effervescent style he refers to as "jango music," which is rooted in Afro-beat, R&B, zouk, and marrabenta. Born Salvador Pedro Maiaze and raised in the Gaza province, Mr. Bow got his start in the short-lived hip-hop group Strange Face. He teamed up with Mozambican singers and music producers Oliver Styles and Ta Basilly in 2007 and began developing the airy Afro-beat sound that would come to define him.
