Electronic pop chanson Dumas emerged as a critical darling with his 2003 album Le Cours des Jours. Born Steve Dumas in Victoriaville, Quebec, in 1979, he first attracted attention with a breakout performance at the 1999 Festival de la Chanson de Granby. After another acclaimed turn at the 2000 Festival en Chansons de Petite Vallée, he began work on his debut LP, a self-titled effort issued the following year.
