Elya's lyrics draw inspiration and power from the Hebrew language; her compositions are influenced by jazz, world music and piyutim (jewish liturgical music), however do not sound like any of those, rather like folk music of an unknown nation. Elya's singing and almost primitive presence is wrapped in a tight musical production, and together they are fused to create a rooted and accessible creation that touches the depths of the soul.
