Obšar was formed in 2016 in the northeastern part of Slovakia. Their name refers to a hill that symbolizes courage and the struggle for freedom of the people from beneath the Carpathians against occupiers. Obšar’s music is rich in melody and dark atmosphere, blending classic black metal with elements of other genres such as thrash, heavy, progressive, folk, electronic, and darksynth metal.
