Lui Rabello is a native of Salvador, where he began his music studies at Ucsal, then went to Bahia Music College EMAC. His first band was the Clara da Lua Band next to Carlinhos Brown, then was invited by himself to join and directing the female percussion group Bolacha Maria, having traveled to various European countries where she played in important festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, performed at Percpan with Gilberto.
