Stéphane Kerecki studied economics at Paris II before heading to musical studies at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris, where he had as double bass teachers Jean-François Jenny-Clark, Riccardo Del Fra and Jean-Paul Celea. He cites Dave Holland, Charlie Haden, Gary Peacock and especially Scott LaFaro among his influences.
