Cheryl Thompson always espoused dreams of making it big, so when she turned 18 in 1962, she moved from Florida to Las Vegas to pursue a singing career. Thompson cut her teeth working as a showgirl at the Sahara Hotel and Casino and soon met singer and bassist Norman Kaye of the early lounge combo, The Mary Kaye Trio. Thompson and Kaye soon married, catapulting her into a sphere of industry bigwigs and sought-after talent.
