Lorian was founded in 1988 by Wolfgang Rautland (keys), Christian Göwert (guitar), Andreas Lindt (bass) and Achim Opitz (drums). After adding vocalist Robert Schröder in 1989, the band crafted a unique blend of prog rock, melodic hard rock and pop influences. Influenced by bands like It Bites, Saga and Marillion, their first demo, featuring tracks like “The Cross on the Hill” and “Beyond the Horizon,” earned positive feedback and helped establish Lorian’s presence in the German Neo-Prog scene.
