Imagine, if you will, a lean and mean Pogues brought up not on the Dubliners and Tommy Makem, but rather the 13th Floor Elevators and Doug Sahm, and you're heading down the Golden Boys' dusty road. Formed in the mid-2000s, the Austin-based ensemble plays a greasy beer-battered sort of roots punk that benefits from more than a few doses of strychnine in the deep fryer.
