From the latter half of the '90s through the early 2010s, Truls Heggero was the frontperson of Lukestar, a post-hardcore band that rose to prominence in their native Norway and, at the peak of their popularity, won a 2008 Spellemannprisen, regarded as Norway's equivalent to a Grammy. During that period, Heggero also led the one-album act Truls and the Trees. Upon the split of Lukestar, Heggero went solo as simply Truls, signed to Parlophone, and moved toward a more production-oriented sound that fused modern R&B and pop.
