Sobre Peter Hänsel

From 1792, continuing for many years, Hansel studied composition with Haydn. He learned the violin from an uncle in Warsaw and served in the court of Prince Potemkin in St. Petersburg. Hansel was the Konzertmeister for the Princess Lubomirsky and composed his first string quartet in Paris, c.1802. Compositions by Hansel included the forms of string quartets, quintets, trios and a variety of keyboard music and other pieces for strings. His music was quite conventional which may explain why his music was often performed. ~ Keith Johnson
